Can't answer your question directly, but I do have edge-case experience here with water. Of course if the panel gets wet, it will stop working because the power connectors (and all other connectors) are exposed and current will follow the wet path. However, the meat of the CR800 and CR1000 is fully protected inside a sealed steel case. I've had a CR800 fifteen feet under water for 1.5 years, and when I retrieved it, the inside of the steel case was dry. After I dried out the wiring panel, I plugged it in and downloaded data. That was 4 years ago and today the CR800 still works. It could use a new wiring panel for aesthetics as the RS232 port is kind of rusty, but still works fine.
That being said, the CR800/1000 really are intended to be used inside a dry enclosure with desiccant. Seldom (if ever) do you have just a CR800. The other components to a system (voltage regulator, sensor wires, perhaps a radio or cell modem, other perpherals) typically do not have sealed electronics like the CR800, and will fail early if exposed to condensing environments, or splashing/spraying/dripping.
