HART FSK?

PPeters Sep 8, 2017 04:01 AM

I have been asked about the CSI capability from a client around measuring HART FSK, this is not something I am familiar with or had any experience beyond standard 4-20mA sensing and use of HART interfaces for configuring sensors.

A brief look around the website I couldnt find any specific information but hoping I might get some clarification

The question related to

Hart FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) Communication Protocol as per https://www.fieldcommgroup.org/technologies/hart

If they can't read it on the current I/O mA input then other option maybe a Hart to RS232 modem, but I was hoping to avoid the extra cost.

Potentailly the hart to rs232 might be the solution but open to any suggestions

Thanks

Paul

The datalogger hardware does not have a way to directly do the FSK modulation.

Generally, customers use a HART to Modbus converter, when they need to HART data. The main data value of the sensor can be read as a normal 4-20mA signal.

thanks for the confirmation
