CR6 datalogger usability on getting electrical parrameters from built-in coverter module of wind turbine

Bushry Sep 6, 2017 02:54 PM

Dear Sir,

I want to know whether the possibility and methodology of using CR6 data logger for following purpose:

Now the logging current, voltage, temperature and humidity are measured from wind turbine though the built-in power converter module (for sake of this discussion assume inverter). We cannot access the built-in sensors directly.  The inverter records the data for 10 minutes in an internal memory.  We can access this data through the RS232 port of a laptop that has a program provided by the inverter manufacturer.

Sir, Can I connect CR6 datalogger to this port and store the data stream?

Expecting an early reply.

Best regards,

Bushry

It really depends on the protocol the turbine uses for communication. If it supports Modbus, then the datalogger can definitely read the information. Check the documentation to see what protocols the turbine supports.

Two possible ways I reckon

one using the NL121 in case you have the IP and parameters from the manufacturer so you can read the data from SCADA

other, modbus, confuiguring the modbus port and parameters.

remember if you need to send the data through a long distance via Modbus you should use RS232/485 converters at both ends since RS232 won´t work
