Our Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Completion of an Electronics Engineering Technologist diploma or post secondary education in Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 1 – 3 years of field experience with a high level of technical troubleshooting ability
  • Preference will be given to candidates with hands on experience using field or other electronic instrumentation.
  • Ability to work well with others, take direction, and productively work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent field and safety documentation skills.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and hours based on client needs.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and heights.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds safely and comfortable with carrying equipment and tools, excessive sitting, or working in extreme conditions.
  • Possession of Class 5 drivers’ license, three years of driving experience, and the ability to operate a company vehicle and provide a 3-year, current driver’s abstract (pulled within 30 days) with zero moving violations (e.g., stunting, speeding, etc.). GDL licenses will not be accepted.
  • A personal cell phone to complete safety check-in’s, and utilize our maintenance App. Compensation will be provided for use of a personal cell phone plan.
  • Candidates must possess appropriate outdoor gear.

Assets:

  • Experience driving a utility trailer
  • Experience with construction machinery
  • Familiarity with computer programming concepts
  • Familiarity with construction or other field safety programs

 

About The Role

    • Field installations and commissioning, which includes:
      • Installation of sensors on various structures which may be located roadside
      • Installation of sensors in roadways (surface sensors and sub surface sensors)
      • Completion installation and commissioning documentation
      • Coordinating work with various subcontractors (civil, electrical, traffic, etc.)
    • Field maintenance activities, which includes:
      • Field sensor replacements
      • Field sensor calibrations and cleaning
      • Providing general site maintenance and upkeep
      • Coordinating with project managers and other support staff
      • Identifying further action items for preventative maintenance
      • Completing field maintenance reports
    • Assist with in-house testing of new or replacement equipment
    • Assist with some in-house sensor repair work
    • Maintain an inventory of spares and other equipment, while effectively tracking items used
    • Tracking and managing project time and expenses
    • Inspections, maintenance, and tracking of PPE
    • Completing daily safety paperwork and tailgates
    • Adhere to all company and provincial safety procedures and regulations
    • Perform extensive travel for installations and client visits

     

    A company vehicle, field laptop and additional standard PPE will be provided. An orientation and hands-on training will be provided prior to starting field work.
