Overview

Kipp & Zonen's 2AP TRACKER is an all-weather, reliable and affordable tracking and positioning instrument. It is used to accurately point small and medium sized payloads, either as a dedicated Suntracker or as a computer-based positioner. The 2AP incorporates two stepper motors controlled by an on-board micro-computer. After configuration as a Suntracker by a host personal computer only occasional checks of the internal clock are required.

The optional Sun Sensor kit provides active sun tracking capability for indefinite unattended operation.

The 2AP has a battery back-up for automatic restart after temporary power outages. When fitted with the optional Pointing and Shading Ball Assembly the 2AP provides mountings for up to three shaded pyranometers and four pyrheliometers.

Designed for use in a variety of applications and environments, the 2AP is the market leader and is accompanied by many options to fulfil your requirements efficiently and economically.

Detailed Description

Kipp & Zonen's sun trackers are widely used in meteorological networks of solar monitoring stations that measure direct, diffuse and global radiation, for inputs to weather forecasting models. Other applications include atmospheric chemistry research, pollution forecasting and materials testing.

With increasing interest in renewable energy good quality solar radiation data is becoming increasingly important, particularly the direct component, with regard to electricity production (photo-voltaic systems) and thermal energy (solar collectors). Activities include research and development, production quality control, determination of optimal locations, monitoring installed systems and predicting the output under various sky conditions.
