Wastewater/SCADA: Silver Springs, NV USA
Silver Springs is a small community near Reno in western Nevada. As with many small towns with septic tanks, fecal coliform is
appearing in drinking water wells. To conteract this problem, Silver Springs has built a new wastewater treatment facility with
aerated lagoons. The Silver Springs project is innovative in that is sends the treated, aseptic water to farmers for reuse in irrigation.
Two CR10X dataloggers with AM416 multiplexers monitor status and flow thoughout the plant. Each CR10X and mux monitors tihe status of
the headworks lift spiral and agitator, the clarifier arm, the traveling bridge filters, aerator/blower motors, pumps, and door intruder
switches. The dataloggers monitor pulse and 4-20 mA signals representing pump speeds and flow rates at various points in the system as
well as a small weather station on top of the control building.
